I was watching a movie one day set in WWII and these words came into my head “War, what is it good for, absolutely nothing.” Words from Edwin Starr song War. I thought it would be good to write a blog on this horrible ‘thing.’ The movie showed all the carnage that young men went through, but for what end? Is war really necessary? Why must young people die for only God knows what. What really bugs me is that the members of the upper echelon that send them to war never go off themselves and if they do it’s never in harms way.
I know war is a money making venture but can we as humans not shift that production to something that can benefit humanity? Sigh. Looking back at all those wars I ask who benefits and who goes off to war. History show that the upper echelon benefits and the poor go off to war. Not fair but we know it is what it is. Will this ever change of will it always be like this? How can it be changed if it is possible? I ask because I don’t know.
Must there be these conflicts or is it that if you back down it shows weakness? Why play with people’s lives like that. The mental and physical fatigue are not worth it. Not to mention the mental toll it takes on families. Maybe we should send the ‘leaders’ to war and see how they like it. Maybe that’s the best way to get change. What do you think?

Life IS for living as you rightly say. Sadly war is a sad reality of life from time immemorial. Truthfully the carnage and and loss of lives and livelihoods are such a waste. Truthfully too only in a utopian world will we not have war.
Like you I think there would less risk of a war if the leaders led the wars like they did in the past… now they can literally just push a button… like in a video game.
The optimist in me tries to see the good in every thing. There have been advances in mass transit and industrialisation that have come as a result of wars. Many ordinary people have done extraordinary things, bringing light during some of the darkest times in world history
Don’t get me wrong… I DO NOT BELIEVE IN WARS… but as Bob Marley says, “Until the philosophy which hold one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned everywhere is war”.
I continue to pray for peace on earth.
Amen my friend.
Pity there has to be any war.
The answer may seem complex but is one of humanities simplest… War began when sin began in the beginning. Cane killed Abel in pride, jealousy, anger and envy. You don’t have to be religious to see that we all have something inside us that have caused someone harm, hurt or loss in one way or another. Sometimes deliberately, sometimes unintentionally.
The Bible said there was a war in heaven when lucifer and his followers was kicked out unto the earth. That means we on earth are on a similar battlefield until God bounds the root influencer of distructive principles.
In all war someone has to plan and someone has to fight. If the planner died in battle then that side has lost even with a greater army. The real question is if the planner is for good or evil because some battles are necessary to prevent evil from winning and spreading.
So is war necessary? The realistic answer is yes. As in heaven; as on earth. The only division being the purpose of the battle. Evil angels as men seek to steal, destroy and kill. God and the righteous fight for justice, truth and peace.
We all want a peaceful world but evil preys on the helpless and do not rest, therefore neither can the gatekeepers who fight for truth and justice in our world.
Slavery in Jamaica was fought against by our national heroes and others. That is one example of many.
God bless.
Interesting.
So diplomacy can’t make its way into the fray today? Do we still have to have wars to satisfy the evil? Sigh.
Thank you.
Was Hitler negotiable? Was Rome against the Jews? Was Japan negotiable when they invaded China? Was the Europeans negotiable when they enslaved Africans?… You get the point.
The plain reality is evil does not negotiate except for deception and/or convenience. Gunmen in Jamaica don’t usually rob the strong (ie. a soldiers or groups of policemen on duty) they rob people who they believe are easy targets. Unarmed persons who are just going about their business having thoughts of community peace and sugarplums dancing in their heads.
God bless.
You think we would learn from history 🤔
Yup, so true. History is the wisdom portal for our short lives. We can learn the lessons of 100’s of years in a few minutes or hours.
