I have made a new friend and the one thing that amazes me about him is his use of time. I had to ask him one day, how do you do all that you do? His answer was I just love giving of myself. I thought the answer interesting and selfless. The thing is the persons around him on a daily basis are similar but he takes it to another level. He is one that believes in early to bed and early to rise. I have just really started taking this serious. The thing is I’m not and have never been a morning person. I was born a night owl. Children change your perspective and your life. I have to get them to school early in the morning so I adapt. That’s the way to live and thrive in life, adaptation.
When I see people I know really using time in a most productive manner that when I say to myself, what is it that I’m doing or not doing? Now we comparing ourselves to others. As I watch it just comes down to focus. I get bored easily and so me and the mind go off in a different direction. Another thing is just the reality of life. At work I don’t get a chance to focus because everyone needs a piece of my time and it’s the same at home. I’m never able to get into flow. Every now and again I might get there and the phone rings. The phone is an integral part of my job. That’s why when I get home I don’t want to use it. Not even lying. That period where you are actually able to focus is in the car in traffic. The thing is I drive myself so can’t write of do anything at that time. Still trying to figure it out as that’s the time I like to listen to inspirational and motivational stuff. I also need to be calm in traffic because some persons ….. someone told me to lower my expectations and that will help. People do what they want and not what should be done on the roads. So what to do?
You know I hear so many persons pointing to to fact that x celebrity has the same amount of time like yourself but they get how much done every day. So let’s break it down. I don’t have anyone to help with the cooking, the washing, etc. I drive myself and there is no assistance to help structure my day. Most importantly I don’t have my own business as yet so my time is traded for money in the interim. Trust me our lives are not the same and our use of time is different.
How do you use your time? How do you get things done? How do you schedule your day and stick to it? Are you able to do anything that could really help the rest of us to get to that higher level?

Effective time management requires discipline.I do structure my day, recognizing the need for flexibility & acceptance as some things are out of my control. When I was commuting to work, I would get up early enough to allow myself time for devotion, to get ready, & enjoy the drive to work- when my sons were younger- then I would be dropping them off..after work/school- homework, activities..chores Friday night/Saturday if no games/band activity..I have found structure to be important- doable:)) know your limit/set boundaries…my older son has expressed his appreciation for this lesson- once he became a parent.:)))
Sounds like you have a great plan. Time management is so important.
