Do you need talent if you work really hard, and if you have talent do you need to work hard? I have heard these questions a number of times including the statement that hard work trumps talent anytime. What do you think? I would like the think it’s a combination and it also depends on the area that you are in.
Think about persons in sports for example, I think talent is needed but talent alone won’t take you far. Sooner or later you lose the edge because others with some talent plus hard work will attain your standard and inevitably pass you. Now those that have the talent and the willingness to put in the extra work it’s hard to catch them. I think so, what do you think?
So my question is why don’t persons always push themselves if they have the talent? Is it the arrogance of feeling that nobody can surpass them as they have god given natural talent? Or is it just fear? This is not only in sports but in other areas as well. This is why I have tried to instill the concept of hard work with my children in the same manner that my mother did for me.
When you put in the work it will be seen as luck by some or natural talent by others. But at the end of the day it is neither, it’s just you deciding that this is what you want and so you push yourself to achieve what you want. What else to do especially when you have no trust fund. Go after what you want or sit thinking about it. Let me know how you see yourself. Natural talent or hard work. Or is it both? I really want to know what you are thinking, and I know others do too.
