It’s the third day of the year and can be seen as a fresh start for some. This year is a leap year and for many persons a time to wipe the slate clean and start all over. I don’t think I will be starting anew but as I said last week there are changes that must be made. It’s not a matter of if they have to be made but they must be made. I had started at the end of the year and will continue to improve and grow. I am thinking that I can say honestly I have seen growth from a personal perspective. I know the change must be made when things that might have been considered important before mean nothing. When you get to that don’t care phase then its time to make the move. You decide if the move is on the professional side or personal.
There is so much to learn out there that has nothing to do with your professional life. Believe it or not life is not only about work. There are so many facets to this life we have. It’s multifaceted, wide and varied. Well that might be my way of thinking. What do you think? Has life become only focused on work or have you found some kind of balance?
I have heard so many times that there is no such thing as work life balance. Well some persons have been able to walk that line and make it work. Others can’t do the balance they either fall left or right of the center. We either work too hard or play too hard. But do we even want to have some kind of balance? Is it worth it? Then again what I might consider to be that perfect situation you might not think so. Does it matter what others think? Isn’t it what is important to you that matter? When we allow others to determine what’s right, best and important for us then we lose all self respect and control. You’re not being selfish thinking that what you want is the most important thing for you. You are being kind to yourself. If you have not been looking after yourself and ensuring that what is important is you, start now.
The new year has always been seen as a time to start new things. It’s important to know that you should make changes. It’s not only about change but ensuring you continue what you start. As I told a friend, “if you don’t use the talents God gave you he will take them back.” How will you use what you have? Life is too short to not make the most of it. What will you start and how will you ensure that you continue?
Let me know as I really want to know what you are thinking, and I know others do too. Try commenting 👍🏽, but if you are not comfortable, reach out to me via any medium. Very important reminder to reflect and realign in order to live a life worth living! <3
Yes it is important. Do you do this once a year or should it be on going?
It is so important to strive for that balance- I say, life-work balance:) it’s vital for our mental health!
Taking time for self, self-care, is not selfish. We can learn to incorporate self-care routines (leisure interests).. It could be a 5-minute meditation, a walk, listening to music, getting a mani-pedi, journaling, volunteering, taking an art class/pottery class,…..I have always volunteered & while I had stopped due to the pandemic, I plan to resume this year. Do what brings you joy. A new year is the perfect time to make changes:)
You see me and understand me. 🙏🏽
I live when you say “do what brings you joy.”
