“Don’t go chasing waterfalls
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to
I know that you’re gonna have it your way or nothing at all
But I think you’re moving too fast”
Waterfalls – TLC
One day I was watching old videos and this song was playing and listened to the chorus. It stayed in my head and so I decided to write this blog on what I thought as it relates to the chorus. Maybe I get it wrong but this is what I thought, give me your feedback. Should we be more cautious in how we approach life? Should we not chase the waterfalls and stick to what we know. Or should we just go ahead and move as we want with no regard for the consequences? Are we to not go after the new experiences or is it that not go after the ones that could be considered dangerous? How do we know what is dangerous? If we don’t get the experiences then how do we know what might be “safe”, against what is not?
Is it that we shouldn’t go after the dreams we have but stick to the safe, known and tried? That has never been my way of doing things why not go after what you want, just be careful. What do you think? Is it worth it or should we be careful all the time so as not to end up with challenges? If we don’t grab at the chances how will you look back on your life and feel? Will you say “I dodged the bullet” or will you say “I should have tried,” or will you say “good try.” Which one do you want to look back knowing you did? I prefer trying. The results might not be what I want but “nothing beats a trial but a failure”, well so said my grandma. Grandma was right.
Failure is a part of life and it’s the not trying that makes the difference for me. Many persons have failed so many times but just shrugged it off and move on. If I had allowed any of my failures to pull me down and keep me down I would never have achieved a smidgen of what I have. I’m not talking about only financial achievements but just everything. What I consider great achievements might look like nothing to you. It’s what you consider fulfilling. At the end of the day it all about you and what you think will make your life great.
