“Prepare the roof before the rain comes.”
There are different variants of the quote above but it all boils down to the same thing and that is being prepared. Why wait until the rain starts falling to fix the roof especially when you know where it is going to leak. This is how life is. You can’t wait until the opportunity presents itself and then you run around like a chicken without a head trying to put the systems in place. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve seen this happen. This is why some persons panic all the time. It’s interesting to see them in full fledged panic mode and they wonder why you are not panicking with them. I just have to shake my head. The thing is they always want you to panic with them and then get upset if you say “don’t panic.” 😉
I am a planner by nature and I don’t like to be caught out. It’s not that you want to or can see the future it’s just that when you look back you can connect the dots and so you see where you should be going. That’s why very often when I see the light in the tunnel I can tell the size of the train coming and how I can get off the track. This is why so many persons will always seem “lucky”. They plan ahead and are prepared for what might happen. A little preparation goes a long way. Trust me on that one.
How does one live their life with no planning at all? They just fly by the seat of their pants. Some might call it living life to the max and being spontaneous all the time but I don’t know about that. You can’t just get up and go off without knowing what you are going to do or at least have an idea of what you should be doing. Where should you be going next? It doesn’t mean you have to be laser focused on that point down the road. What it means is you must know where the point is and have some idea of how you will get there. One foot in front of the other knowing the direction that you are heading. If you are a little off your target then that’s fine but at least you have an idea of where you should at least end up. In my mind there is a big difference between been spontaneous and being down right stupid. Say you get up one day and decide you are going on a trip but you know how you will pay for everything that’s fine. However if you get up one day and decide to go on a trip and have no clue how it will be financed and it’s just c’est la vie, then I would say that’s stupid. Please don’t tell me that no one would do that because you all know someone that lives like that. The thing is very often they are so broke and wonder why.
So my question is how do you prepare for the future and if you don’t why? Let me know as I really want to know what you are thinking, and I know others do too. I love this. One of my favorite quotes is “It’s not the will to win that matters, as we all have that, it’s the will to prepare to win thats important.”
I love that quote and shall pull it into my way of thinking. 🙏🏽
