I was clueless as to what to blog about this week and I mentioned it to a friend. She said immediately post COVID Christmas. So here is my two cents on what it looks like now in Christmas post Covid. Imagine this is the first time in two years that many families will be spending Christmas together. I do believe that we should appreciate it more than ever because we know what it is like not being together. Two years where we were held apart by a deadly virus. I’m hoping we have learned from the past. Thinking about it, its highly unlikely that we have. Human don’t seem to learn from their past. We just do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. Is it because it’s what we know and therefore that makes it familiar?
Will we go back to pre Covid ways of celebrating Christmas or do we create new traditions? I think we are actually going back and will continue to go back. It’s what we know and what we feel comfortable doing. Does it really make a difference what we do at Christmas time? It’s that feel good time of year and it does matter for many persons including myself. I love this time of year. Sometimes I go back in my mind to my childhood wishing every day was Christmas. But if it was would we not lose that feel? You know what I’m talking about. It’s so hard to explain it. This is why it was my mother’s favorite time of year. She absolutely adored Christmas and as I have mentioned before she passed this on to my siblings and I. It’s strange though I stopped so many of her favorite things at Christmas because she isn’t here. I now wonder if I did it for the tradition or did I do it because she made it such fun?
Christmas is back. Have a merry Christmas all and see you all next week.
