Someone said to me recently that so many persons can’t see opportunity. Is it that they don’t see it in front of them or that they ignore it or are they scared to grasp it? Those were the questions I asked and the person said they think so many persons just ignore the opportunities. I sat thinking about it. Maybe some do but many are afraid to make that leap of faith. It’s not easy. As many of us know it’s not the easiest thing to let go and let God. What happens if we fail. As you know failing doe many will crush the spirit, the mind and the soul. It can be devastating and put you in a state of depression. I have seen what happens to someone that become debilitated because of perceived failure. It’s a different mindset. I was always told by my mom that if you fall down just pick up yourself, brush off the dust and go again. It’s now the same for all as failure for some is the definition of you. You failed and that’s the end of the story. Why try again as you might fail again.
I know some one who recently decided to jump and hope the net would appear. Faith is what made them willing to go forward and in the end jump and believe me it was a leap of faith. When I asked if he wasn’t afraid the answer was no I’m excited to try something new was the answer. Why not try? When you don’t try you live in a perpetual state of what of and if only. As my dad has told me I should always look back on my life and say I did, not I wish I had tried.
It’s the taking that final step to jump into the abyss that scares so many. But why is it that some seem to thrive on trying new things all the time? Is it that they are adrenaline junkies? Is it that they don’t care if they fail as long as they tried? Or is it that failure is not even an option and they just go out there to win. Is it the mindset of the individuals or is it that they just saw the opportunity and was “lucky” enough to grasp it? Then again we all know there is no such thing as luck. You are either prepared when the opportunity presents itself of you are not. When you are prepared and confident you will make that leap of faith.

Great question. The word “Faith” has many meanings depending on your worldview. There are essentially only two (2) worldviews…. You either believe an intelligent creator created the world… or you believe the world created itself. There are some debates that try to merge both, but that in my opinion holds no validity as they are diametrically opposing views.
How you look at your life and the world will be based on which of those worldviews you choose and why.
I will now throw in some stats to accompany my response on faith… (this may be a slightly lengthy response but I trust it will be informative to you)…
In 2010 the global population were as follows (Pews Research Centre):
• Christians – 31.5%
• Muslims – 23.2%
• Unaffiliated – 16.3%
• Hindus – 15%
• Folk Religionists (based on culture only) – 5.9%
• Other Religions – 0.8%
• Jews (Judaism) – 0.2%
As you can see “comparatively” the “unaffiliated” are actually in the minority in relation to global belief in some religion. In 2023 those numbers have obviously changed but the percentage ratio remains the same with the Christian faith still leading the stats in majority.
So the question of faith will obviously be based on everyone’s chosen worldview.
To the non-Religious, faith is based on their own perception and understanding, mixed with a little to a lot of blind “luck”.
To Religious groups, faith will obviously be based on the persona of that said religion, be it Christ, Buddah, Allah, Hare Krishna, etc. But upon closer examination only one faith in the world has historical and consistent facts to support it’s authenticity and purpose. And that is Christianity.
The Bible was written over a period of 1,500 years, in three primary languages – Hebrew, Aramaic & Greek, in over three Continents – Africa, Asia & Europe, and by over 35 diverse authors over that 1,500 yr period, who mostly did not know each other. The Bible authenticates itself primarily by lineage (family trees), as well as in prophesy.
Christianity is the only faith in the world whose documented source (The Bible) describes world History before it occurs and has been 100% accurate to this very day. That’s “Bible Prophesy” if anyone want’s to follow up on that. Also it is the only “faith” globally wherein righteousness is not attributed to the believer by any works of the believer’s hands (Ephesians 2:8-9), but by simply accepting the sacrifice of the God of that said faith – Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
That being said, the answer to having a “Leap of Faith” is very simple for Christians because Biblical “faith” is another word for “trust in God” and is BASED on what God has said and shown throughout world history and personally in the believers’ life – in practicality and reality, concerning God’s Word in relation to actual supernatural deeds done, in order to show and encourage trust in the believer with the lack of fear in making necessary life decisions. Knowing that when wisdom and planning is applied with Christian “faith”, God Himself will guide and direct the believer in all their circumstances, and always.
This is summarised in this Biblical passage:
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
In other words, the honest mistakes in decision making for the Christian believer won’t lead to utter destruction or total disaster because, as in life and after death, the Christian will always be guided, provided and protected by God Himself. That is God’s promise.
So for Christians it’s not so much a “Leap of Faith” as it is a continual trust in Gods (Christ’s) proven Word.
No other Religion or worldview has had consistent or positive results in a believer’s “Leap of Faith” throughout history, as the Christians had. To this very day “Faith”, or “Trust in God”, is actually (and should be) the foundation and lifestyle of the Christian believer.
“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith” – Romans 1:17. This is also stated in other similar verses …Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38.
So we all live by faith, the difference is what that faith is based upon. Is it in a proven God (Christ), or an unknown, unproven god, or in our own limited strength? For Christians there is 6,000 years of documented proof of God’s providence, purpose and protection, the same which still holds true to this very day within the experiences of ALL true Christian believers (be careful of imposters).
God bless you all, and as a dear friend always says “Life is for Living”. Take care.
Thank you so much. Life is for living and the best way is to “trust in God.” That is as you said what is needed to take that leap of faith.
Well said
🙏🏽
As a Christian, I know that God is faithful, and I have experience and seen him at work time and time again.
Yet while living in this flesh, it is fearful. Fear of the unknown.
It is not so much the question of, “what if I fail?”, I think for me it is more “what if I succeed?” Will I be able to sustain it. If I do well, then I will have to leave my comfort zone – leave the shadows.
So I guess the real question is (coming to me as i type), am I willing to take that leap of faith at the expense of leaving my comfort zone?
I am off to taking that leap of faith, even if it is just a baby step.
Fear of success is real. Just let go and let God. 🙏🏽
