How many times have we heard “take the leap and the net will appear?” It’s not easy to overcome the fear and take that leap, hoping everything will be fine. There is no doubt that you have to have tremendous faith to step into the unknown and assume everything will be fine. It’s scary to jump, not knowing what will happen. When you like to plan, it seems crazy to take that jump without knowing what the ramifications are. We question everything. What will happen, how will it happen, why will it happen? We think of all the bad things that can happen because that seems easier than walking out in faith. As said by Thomas Aquinas – “Faith has to do with things that are not seen, and hope with things that are not in hand.”

I have been in so many situations that I have had to jump and prayed the net would appear, but it was never easy. It’s fine to talk about having blind faith, but when placed in the situation, you realize it takes a tremendous amount of faith to take the first step towards taking that final leap. There is a big difference between the theory of taking the leap and the actual action of taking the leap. It’s like everything else in life where the theory of the action is very different from the actual process itself.

How do you move from thinking about the action to running and jumping? Is it as I said, blind faith in the concept of that higher being providing what is wanted, or is it just crazy, stupid thinking? Is it burying your head in the sand and ignoring all that’s happening around and just jumping because everything else seems out of reach?

What I have noticed is that when we make that leap in most situations, we look back and wonder why we never did it before. Was it lack of faith/fear that held us back? When things work out, does it help to build that faith, or do we feel all pumped for that period of time and then go back to walking in fear again? How do we keep the faith?
