I was talking to my stepmom and the way God would do things came up. The story was about someone that wanted to buy a car, saved for it but didn’t have enough. A relative saw how diligent they were and gave them the balance of the funds. That she said was God’s help. She always puts things into perspective. The main thing that came out of the conversation was “God does help those who help themselves but (s)he does it through people.” I stopped and thought about it and decided that was a fantastic blog topic. I said I never thought of it like that and she was silent for a little, which meant she was smiling. I really thought about it and realized it was true. How often do we expect something like a lightening bolt of help and it comes in another form through a person but it takes us a while to understand. Actually sometimes we never do.

The help very often comes not in the form of monetary assistance but through just being there or offering a helping hand. The ability to provide a kind word or mentoring is how we can offer help. Do you sometimes feel like there is no way to solve a problem and someone walks up to you and start talking? You think wow that’s the solution. Here it is you asked for help from above and the lord gave the help. It’s for us to realize and accept.

I have been hearing the word ageism being thrown around recently and I have been thinking deeply. Many persons would want to put some persons to pasture because of their age, but as I have noticed it’s not always a sensible thing to do. My stepmom has so much wisdom because she has been around longer. The thing is she is one that didn’t just pass through life but absorbed as she went along. She then gives back. I think that is how it should be. That’s how it used to be but things and times have changed. How do we not decide that because someone is older they need to go away. I have realized that not all persons want to keep up with what is happening in the world. They can’t keep up with the technology. Look, I work in technology and I find it hard to keep up as it changes rapidly. Sometimes it’s these persons that the higher being put there to offer the help that you requested.

It always comes back to asking, believing and receiving. That’s how God sometimes provide the help.
