Do you agree with the captioned? Or are you one of those persons that decides even if the door slams shut you should just walk up to it and open it? But should we reopen that door or allow it to remain shut and move on? I wonder, what do you think?
Thoughout my life I have always heard that, “when one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” Interestingly, very often the other doors are sometimes open before the one close. We however are focused on the closed one that it’s like having on blinders and can’t see outside of the tunnel we created. Tunnel vision is the result. Is it human nature to always want to go back into the situation that we were pushed from? Or is it that we are afraid of what might be through those open and by extension new doors? Is it fear of the unknown or love of the known? I think it’s worth thinking about.
So as I asked should you try to open the door closed by God or just leave it alone. But some will ask how do we know that God isn’t just testing us to see if we are willing to make the sacrifice? So maybe it’s temporarily closed. In my experience when it’s slammed it normally harder to open if it can be opened at all. So maybe you should just walk away and keep walking. Don’t be like Lot’s wife, keep looking ahead. What do you think? Walk away or try opening the slammed door? I really want to know what you are thinking, and I know others do too. If God closes those doors.
Leave them closed.
🙏🏽. No questions, just do it.
I appreciate this. Trust that if God closes a door…move on!
🙏🏽. Move on and don’t try reopening. There are other open doors.
This blog actually poses two questions:
1 – Can we actually reopen doors that God has closed?
2 – When when one door closes, does another really open? And is it just our perception if a door is truly closed?
I’ll try to put my 2 cents on both.
When God closes a door it is actually impossible to re-open it. He is God, the Alpha and the Omega.
“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth” – Revelation 3:7
Next question:
What really do we consider a closed door? The answer to that will vary greatly and be based on a variety of circumstances. For example, if a past relationship door was closed by you, is it really closed if you decide to try again, as opposed to if it wasn’t closed by you?
What if you loose a job by your own fault as opposed company downsizing or merger. Either way, that door may seem closed but there are always other jobs around, so was the employment door shut or simply shifted?
You see my point.
For such a diverse question, only a specific circumstance can yield a specific answer, however, generally speaking, and as a Christian, I have seen and found these Bible verses to be one of hope and comfort for any closed door:
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.” – Revelation 21:5
God bless.
Interesting take on the topic.
Just to clarify, never said you could open the closed door. The question was should you try.
🙏🏽
Why try to open doors that’s not meant to be open, or even those you know you can’t?
Why waste the time?
That’s why I asked the question. I have seen persons try and I wanted to know why. 🙏🏽
From what I have seen, as well as my own personal circumstances, we try to open closed doors for sentimental or emotional reasons. We know they are closed, but we have to make sure. It’s like the possibility of it being open even a crack is enough to have us digging the dirt trying to pry it open.
Maybe it’s basic human nature, maybe it’s stubbornness… maybe it’s hope. Whatever the reason, we can’t blame anyone for trying to open those doors but rather encourage or help them to open new ones with new beginnings.
God bless.
As long as we are open to help I agree that help should be offered. Makes sense. 🙏🏽
Interesting topic, and very insightful comments from Vaughn.
Make take on this topic us that you one should not try to open a door slammed shut. Accept that reality, and move on..there will be other open doors. So step on in, to explore new beginnings and possibilities. Never be afraid of change. Yes, it can be painful at first…but that too will pass..
So just accept the fact that the door is closed and take on new experiences. Sounds so simple but seems so hard for some. 🙏🏽
