When I did exams back in the day there was a hack that I was taught called brain dump. What you did was sit for the first couple minutes of the exams and just put the major things you might need in the exam on paper. That way you don’t try or have to remember all the formulas etc in the exam. It was a God sent and that’s what I used to help me through a number of exams. I realized one day that I could also do it in my regular life especially at work. When I sit in the morning I would put everything down on paper instead of trying to remember it all. It worked. The thing is I used to have all my non work ideas and thoughts still floating around in my head. I now realized that made no sense 🤦🏾♀️. The day I started writing the blogs was when I had full brain dump. Now as soon as I think of something I would open a blank page on my phone and just write. I ensured I used an app that is backed up to the cloud. Can you imagine losing the phone and then everything gone. 😢. That happened to me back in the day when I used to program. The hard drive crashed with everything and that was it. I cried like a baby. That was my last gig programming. 😔. Anyway that how I now help myself so that I don’t have my mind crowded with so many things. Even if it’s not for my blog I just write it down. Just get rid of it. Save it or not, that’s up to you.
I realized it was for me a great way to help protect my mental health. That is something we all need to do. Rona has showed us that we can end up suffering mental issues without even realizing we are heading there. As I heard someone say mental health issues is like diabetes it can happen to anyone. We just have to look after ourselves and try to protect ourselves. If putting my thought down is a great way to do this I will continue because I have to take care of me so I can take care of the ones I love.
I have also realized that just by reading more, listening to music and doing other things that help to make me happy helps a lot. That’s what I do to take me to a better place. That what I do and it helps but that might not work for you. In that situation you need to get help. Talk to someone. Sometimes we need to look outside ourselves for help. No man/woman is an island. Talking about issues help. Trust me on that one. I don’t mean to go talking to people who will have your business all over the place but a trusted friend or family member, you know who they are. Reach out and ask for help and accept it when it’s given.
It’s so hard for so many persons to figure out how to help themselves when things get overwhelming. Life can get out of hand and you need to realize that it happens. It is after all life. Work with it and take it a day at a time. The taking care of your health mentally and physically is extremely important. It became even more apparent with the pandemic. One of the ways I take care of myself is doing just what you do, reading, listening to music, etc. Sometimes we all need to leave the stress of the world on the outside. There will always be a time to deal with what needs to be done.
