A friend sent this meme to me and I sat there chuckling to myself. No I am not crazy I just saw someone in my mind eye that fit the quote perfectly. To me it refers to the talkers that we all know. You know the ones that talk the talk but can’t walk the walk. I’m sure you know them. We went to school with them, grew up with them and work with them. Are you a talker or doer?
The interesting thing is if you say to that person this is you (s)he would be offended because they wouldn’t see themselves like that. Every now and again we have to look at ourselves and look internally. How will we grow if we continue on the same path? Why not step off the path and do something else that takes you elsewhere?
It’s really what we should do. It’s not necessary to say the first thing that comes to your mind because you have to fill the silence. It might be uncomfortable but so what. It’s something I want my children to understand. You don’t have to be constantly talking because you want to appear to be really smart. 🤔. Smart sometimes means keeping quiet. Is it necessary to always have something to say? This is when the old saying “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” really hits the point home. Sometimes it’s easy to think someone stupid because they don’t talk. It could be they really have nothing to say or they could be just not comfortable in that space. I can understand and willing to do that sometimes. Why talk when you have nothing to say or feel the need to talk. I love people watching and listening to others. There is so much that you can learn from just keeping quiet. I have told my children that before. They are introverts and so will sit for ages just listening to others. My daughter wondered if it was ok to do that as everybody at school will always be talking. I tell her not to worry as it’s fine. I was like that at her age and so was her daddy. We like quite and calm.
I’ve always noticed that the ones who think themselves so wise and really know nothing are forever talking and telling you what they can do. How many times have you realized that they really know little if anything? The interesting thing about it is that so many don’t see what you see. They are totally fooled by the talker. How many times have you said, how can they not see what you see? Could it be that your bs meter is turned up much higher that others? My thing to you is be the wise one that thinks before talking so that you don’t come across as an idiot.
