This quote by Henry Ford hits the nail on the head. Your mind determines how you see things and what you will do. If you believe you can do anything you are right and on the other side, if you believe you can’t do anything you are right.
Have you ever noticed some persons that are just brimming with confidence and think they can do anything and conquer the world? On the other hand there are some persons that always look and behave as if everything has them defeated. Why do you think this is so? I figure it must be their mindset and the lack of belief in themselves.
My mother told me from a young age you can do and achieve anything. I believed her. What else could I do? She was my mother and my first mentor. She sure knew what she was doing with my siblings and I and all the other persons she raised. I took that same idea and instilled it in my nephew-son and you should see how he behaves as if the world is his oyster 😉. That belief helped him to switch countries and cultures with no issues. My younger kids are also being raised in that manner, “you can do anything, there is no limit on what you can do and achieve.”
This also points to the fact that the adults in children lives can make that difference. If however you move into adulthood and realize that what happened in childhood is holding you back, find a way to let it go. Get help. You have to get to the stage where you believe you can. It’s not very easy for some persons but it can be done. Look at Eric Thomas – the Hiphop preacher. Look him up he’s inspiring. He always said if he did it anyone can. He had a rough life, but is now one of the best thought leaders in the world. As my mother would say belief kills and belief cures.
There is a book “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success Book by Carol Dweck”, that explores these ideas in great detail and believe me it was very eye opening when I was reading it. You should read it. It’s not very deep and well written. She talks about the fixed and growth mindsets and how they determine your life and your behavior. When you read it reach out to me and let me know what you think.
Let me know if you agree or disagree with me on this topic and why. Let me know via any medium.

Again you are on point. My mom always says that too… belief kill and belief cure. I’m a glass half full kinda person. In whatever I do or I’m going through I try to see the positive in it. The mind really is powerful. Stay blessed Andrea.
So it’s best to believe you can. Anything else is not going to show any positivity.
Once again great topic. “If you think you can or if think you can’t, you are right”.
As a child I wanted to be a Dr. To work in the hospital like my mom did.
I got traumatized after one week in the hospital and that was history. On another occasion a family said why dont you be a nurses assistant.
By the end of the course I decided once again, not for me. 😆That’s just not for me to become a Dr.
I didn’t stop I continued on a different path. As my mind was telling me dont be discouraged where there is a will there is a way. The things that happened to me in the pass as a child as given me the will power to move on and better yet how to deal with my girls. As adult we need to take responsibility we fall we rise. Our mind is our best friend! Keep up the good work Andrea!! Untill…be bless
Great story cuz. Your mind is very powerful. You have to guard it well.
Very powerful quote. Mindset will make or break you. But you also touched on another very important point. The support structure you have around you both from youth and in adulthood helps to shape your mindset and can either enable or disable your success.
Love it.
True words my friend on both points. Guard your mind jealously.
I actually use “it will happen just how I wish” mantra to deal with anything that appears almost impossible to achieve or somewhat challenge or just if something in the universe seem to be working against me. I am sometimes totally amazed at how things work out that I can only attribute to my mindset of not having it any other way. Sometimes it is even scary! I use it with all my children it’s a powerful and impactful gift to any child. Love this piece
Mindset is so important.
