I took this definition from AI and I thought it so apt: “Perception refers to the way we interpret and understand the world around us based on our experiences, beliefs, and biases, while reality refers to the objective state of things as they actually exist. The two, though often interlinked, can diverge in significant ways.”
It was interesting to note that the two persons in the situation really do look at life very differently. Their ideas as it relates to success and failure are totally different. The person that thought they were doing well is what one would call an eternal optimist and sees life with many shades of grey while the other has been called a realist many times. But are they really or is it based on perception? Is it just how they see things and because of their tendency to put things into either a negative or positive context?
Could it be that one’s upbringing and mindset has a lot to do with how we perceive reality? Can we curate reality by showing ourselves as what we want others to think? This is done often with the use of social media. When we show what we think our life should be as against what it really is, do the two conflict or merge? When for example you show your lifestyle as being affluent when it really isn’t do you sometimes push yourself to the point where you overspend and end up in debt? Or is it the concept of “fake it till you make it?” When is it that you move from the faking to the achieving?

See you next Wednesday at 8:00 pm, Bogota time.
I would love it if you would say something, anything and tell someone. 🙏🏽

I agree with you Andrea, we perceive things based on our upbringing. More other than not our perception is so far from reality.
We would hope people being exposed and educated would make a difference but that’s so not the case.
It should be noted that perception shapes our behavior.
It’s so interesting to note that perception can shape behavior. 🙏🏽
