Have you ever felt that work was just kicking your butt for no reason? I feel like that now and it took me a while to figure out I was just tired. Interestingly it affects everything that I do and it takes a while to realize that when we are tired it creates problems in all aspects of your life. I knew mentally I was in the wrong place when I found it really hard this week to write a blog. That’s something I usually find no problem doing. What to do when we are in that place where we have to stop and look at ourselves and what’s happening around us. If you can’t see what’s happening then how do you get out of the slump?
You would think after all this time I would have figured out how to traverse the intricacies of life especially as it relates to work. Thinking about it maybe I have. Maybe it’s because I really don’t care and would prefer doing something else. This is when I know it’s time to step back and relax. In order not to feel overwhelmed it makes sense to remember to prioritize what should be important and ignore the noise. Is this easier said than done especially when you know that if you step out of line you could lose the job. What would you do without the ability to make a living as you are doing now? That’s the reality that makes many live in a perpetually state of stress and conflict. How do you have that balance that allows you to thrive no matter what.
The easiest way I have realized to take care of yourself is to prioritize self care.
As I sat writing this I look around at others that I know that are on the edge and don’t even realize it. This happens when the drama becomes a part of your life and you can’t seem to break away from it. As you know I don’t do drama and so as I see it I step away. Life doesn’t have to be draining all the time. Well it shouldn’t be as far as I’m concerned. As a friend said to me one day, you must guard your mental health jealously and they learnt this the hard way. To some it’s mombo jombo while for others it’s a part of life. They have lived it and seen it too often to not know that you have to ensure you protect yourself in every facet of life. Life is too precious to allow others to undermine what you have created. Always remember is about you and no one else. When I got to that stage in life it became easier. But does this come with age for some or is it something innate. Is it learnt?
It’s not that easy for many as someone reminded me recently. When others have control and a hard grip on your life through work life can be rough. When you don’t see life the same way and probably will never see it similarly you know there is a problem. But why should there be a problem? As someone said to me it’s about power. They have a need to control. What to do? How do you regain that control and wrestle that power from them? It’s after all you life and you should be the one to decide where you go and what happens.
How do you do this yourself especially when you are not trained? You shouldn’t in my mind but reach out as remember no man is an island. When things get rough reach out and ask for help. I have realized that just talking to someone helps. For me is not for the person to figure out my problem but just to listen. It helps.

I would love it if you would say something, anything and tell someone. 🙏🏽

Sometimes these things that we hold on to are not for us. It is hard to take the step , the leap.
So true, but leaping is not easy.
