I was talking to someone recently and they gave a not too flattering description of someone that I didn’t know and believe me it was brutal. Interestingly it was as if they were describing themselves. Thinking about it that’s exactly how I would have described them. It was interesting that they obviously didn’t see themselves like that. The person surprised me when they said what they did. It made me wonder if we are all like that, do some really see themselves as they are and some don’t. Is it that when we don’t see ourselves the way we really are and we are therefore delusional?
Is it that we don’t really know ourselves or is it that we think that we really do know who we are. When I started thinking about this I had to stop and wonder if we really look inwards or it’s superficial and only on the outside.
Is it that we are scared to actually really look at ourselves and see who we really are? Politicians are the perfect example. 😉. They always seem to see themselves as they think but not really as they are. I think it funny when I see how when they look in the mirror and she someone totally different from who is really there.
Why is it that we are unwilling to look at ourselves and analyze what we really are. Well not all persons do that I must admit. I know persons that are able to improve over time because they always look inward. Is this a large amount of persons or a minority? I guess if you look and recognize who you really are it might frighten you. I see you but do you really see you? Self assessment is very important.
